The national media covers it daily—changes in the job and real estate markets, uncertainty in the country’s overall economic state, indirectly asking the question: What will become of the American Dream?

We see businesses not knowing if they should expand, college graduates returning home because they can't find jobs, and senior citizens bringing roommates into their homes to help pay their bills.

We also see bold new volunteer efforts, inspiring stories of local businesses that succeed because they innovated, and local residents who've taken these unsettled times as a signal to engage more, not less, with their government.
