Devonwood Recallers Get 77 Percent of Votes, Still Lose Election

It became apparent that the majority of voters would not have their way after Monday night's vote count.

An election to Lorraine Walsh failed Monday, even though recallers received 77 percent of votes.

Choosing to use a cumulative vote – instead of a simple majority vote – the Devonwood Condominium Owners Association board escaped a recall of its president. A total of 66 votes were cast, with 15 counting as "no" or anti-recall votes and 51 counting as "yes" or pro-recall votes, said Leticia Thomas, who initiated the recall try.

According to a letter sent to residents from private company hired to oversee the election, recallers would need a minimum of 141 votes to recall Walsh. To block the recall, 28 votes were required.
