Car Wreck Knocks Out Power for Some in Pinole

About 4,000 customers affected.

About 4,400 PG&E customers in the East Bay, inlcuding part of Pinole, lost power this afternoon when a car crashed into a power pole, a utility spokeswoman said.

The outage was reported at 3:20 p.m. following the crash of the car into a pole alongside San Pablo Dam Road, and affected customers in Pinole, Richmond and El Sobrante, PG&E spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian said.

Utility crews responded and had restored power to all but 325 customers as of 4:05 p.m., Sarkissian said. She did not yet have an estimate for when power would return for the remaining customers.

"Crews are on scene and working to make restorations as quickly as
possible and make repairs to the pole," she said.
