5 Things: Lost Kitties, Bayfront Task Force, Getting Your Life in Order

And scary movies, too.

Do you like scaaary movies? If you do, then there’s a special and perhaps slightly sick-minded someone you should be celebrating. Yes sir, the man who dreamed up knife-fingered Freddy Kruger and those young and disgruntled Scream series killers—Wes Craven—was born this week in 1939. The Cleveland-born moviemaker got his start working behind the scenes on adult films (who knew?), then moved to gore and now enjoys, um, bird watching. I wonder if that’s a common transition?

Here’s to horror flicks and fluffy chicks. Now onto 5 Things…

As usual, let’s get the government meeting stuff cleared up and out of the way:

1) Those involved with or interested in the long-awaited Hercules waterfront development (shops, transit center, etc.) should show up at Tuesday’s meeting to get the lowdown on any new developments with the project. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

2) Both the Finance Sub-Committee/Citizens Finance Advisory Ad Hoc Committee and the City Attorney Ad Hoc Committee are scheduled to meet this week. The finance meeting will take place Wednesday at 6 p.m. and the city attorney ad hoc will meet on Thursday at 7 p.m. Both are scheduled to meet at the Hercules City Hall Council Chambers.

3) If trying to work out complicated municipal finance puzzles ain’t your bag, how about working out your brain with a board game? This Herculean wants to start a regular chess meet-up at the or , which means our local cafes will double as gyms for the mind.

4) Sound the alarms! Two kitties from separate Hercules homes went missing recently. If you’ve seen a lost-looking feline or two running the streets in the past several days, check the descriptions here and here to see if you can help reunite the pets with their owners.
