3.6 Quake Near Hercules and Pinole

USGS Reported shaking shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday.

No damage had been reported as of about an hour after a 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Hercules and Pinole shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday. An emergency dispatcher at the Pinole police department said there had been no reports of damage nor any calls from residents about the quake. The center receives calls from both Hercules and Pinole.

A 3.6 magnitude quake is classified as a "light" earthquake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The depth of the 7:04 p.m. quake was about 9 kilometers, or about 6 miles, according to the USGS website. The epicenter of the quake has been placed two miles southeast of Hercules.
