Pinole Store Spared in Best Buy Closures

Fitzgerald Drive location is not among 50 stores being shut down.

announced on Saturday that it will be closing seven California stores and 50 across the nation, but the Pinole location on Fitzgerald Drive has been spared.

The company said that Bay Area stores in Pittsburg and East Palo Alto are among the locations that will close this year.

"Employees of these two stores have been notified this morning of the decision," read a statement released by Best Buy. "We will be working to help these employees find other positions inside Best Buy. If they don’t find new positions, or if they choose not to work at a different location, a transition including severance packages will be available."

Both Bay Area stores were closed Saturday and will re-open Sunday to sell remaining merchandise, according to the news release. Most stores are expected to be closed by May 12.

Brian Dunn, the company's CEO, resigned on Tuesday amid an investigation regarding "personal conduct."
