Crockett (nicknamed "Sugartown," because of the C&H Sugar factory) is hosting a street festival this weekend.
The Sugartown Festival and Street Fair celebrates Crockett's community, history and local flair with a full day of great food, fun activities and high energy music from two stages, the main stage and the community stage.
At 12:30pm, Lost Dog Found--an 8 piece mini big band--will come out "swinging" with their fat and original scalding-hot jump-swing revival tunes. At 2:30, Midnight Sun will move body and mind with their potent Caribbean rhythms and socially conscious lyrics. Then at 4:30pm, the Delta Wires--an industrial-strength, 7 piece blues band with a take-no-prisoners brass section will rock Crockett to its core. The Delta Wires meld Mississippi Delta tunes and Chicago-style arrangements with rock, soul, and swing sensitivity to produce a rollicking, robust not-to-be-missed live music experience.

The Community Stage starts at 11:00 am and features Puro Bandido, Nickel Slots and Savannah Blue.
In addition to the stellar musical line-up, there will be great local food, wine, beer from Lagunitas Brewery, Home Depot kids’ zone. There will be a “Sugartown Idol” karaoke singing contest held throughout the day on the main stage! Vocalists can choose from thousands of songs as they vie for the Sugartown Idol Title. Proceeds from the Idol singing contest will go to support John Swett School District programs. An all day non-stop party, the Sugartown Festival and Street Fair promises to be one sweet event!
