Family Fun-Raiser for Pinole Swim Center
The latest effort to collect donations for the is happening Saturday, with a "Family Fun-Raiser" dinner from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Café Soleil, 3550 San Pablo Dam Road in El Sobrante.
The pool, which hosts the Pinole Seals Swim Club and offers swim lessons, recreational swimming and more, is in danger of closing because of city budget cuts imposed last summer. Volunteers have embarked on an extensive effort to raise enough money to guarantee a 2012 season. So far, about $8,200 has been raised at various events since the fundraising effort has been organized. A total of $30,000 is needed for the coming year.
All proceeds from Saturday's dinner will be donated to the Save the Pinole Swim Center campaign.
