Week Ahead: National Night Out, Relay For Life

Here's some of the events happening this week in the Pinole-Hercules area

Mark your calendars with some of these upcoming events.

Community Workshop: The Hercules Planning Commission will hold a community workshop at 6 p.m. Monday. Among the topics on the agenda are future plans for the downtown area and transit-oriented development.

National Night Out: From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Pinole and Hercules will be among the 9,500 communities across the country participating in National Night Out. The event is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness and strengthen neighborhood cooperation and spirit. Neighbors are encouraged to organize block parties to mark the occasion.

Relay for Life: The annual relay to raise money for the American Cancer Society will be held on Saturday and Sunday in Fernandez Park in Pinole. A final Relay For Life Pinole pre-event meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Pinole Police Department. On Thursday, Pear Street Bistro will be donating 10 percent of their proceeds to the cause. The Relay for Life Hercules event was held on June 29.

Recreation: The Hercules Park and Recreation Department has a variety of summer classes and programs. You can check them out on the department's website.
