Powerful winds blasted northern California Monday, causing power outages across the Bay Area, knocking down trees in Sacramento and wreaking havoc for those with sensitive allergies.
A National Weather Service wind advisory was issued for the area, warning of 45-mile-per-hour wind gusts.
Thousands of PG&E customers experienced outages Monday morning, including about 4,600 customers in San Francisco without power; another nearly 4,300 are in the dark in Redwood City; and about 4,100 in San Bruno are powerless.

The outages in the Bay Area have been reported due to high winds and poor weather, according to PG&E.
