Saint Mary's High News - Lots of It!
Special congrats will be shared by the school community this afternoon with seniors Max Goldstein of El Cerrito and Barbara Montano of Berkeley, Max for achieving National Merit Finalist status and Barbara for receiving the President’s Volunteer Service award.
The annual Saint Mary’s Blood Drive will take place on Thursday, April 10 from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Blood Centers of the Pacific will be on campus in the school gym, and donors may register online at www.bloodheroes.com. Click “Donate Blood” and enter sponsor code: SMCHIGH to schedule your appointment. Minimum age is 16, with parent permission. Donors age 17 and above do not need permission.
The Saint Mary’s College High School Jazz Ensemble will present a joint concert with the Saint Mary’s College Jazz Band on Thursday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Soda Center at the College in Moraga. Open to the public. Tickets are $5 general admission and $2 for students and seniors. Come join Saint Mary’s High and her “big sister” Saint Mary’s College, founded together in 1863 in San Francisco.

Saint Mary’s Performing Arts will present the 1970’s musical classic, “The Wiz” in the school auditorium at 7:00 p.m. on April 4, 5, 11, and 12. Mark your calendars now to “Ease on Down the Road” to historic Peralta Park and see the show. Tickets are $10 for adults 18 and over, and $8 for students and youths under 18. The 1975 Broadway classic and Tony Award winner will enjoy a more modern twist as young Dorothy, who can’t put down her laptop and I-Phone, gets pulled into cyberspace and meets The Tune Man, The Escrow, and the Wicked Witch, Evilene. In this 75th anniversary year of the original “Wizard of Oz,” this production is not to be missed. Tickets will be available at the door before each show.
