To conclude our season, we feature one of the very greatest operas of the 20th century - Porgy and Bess. Gershwin's undoubted classical masterpiece of 1935 has had productions throughout the world, and we are pleased to present the legendary Hollywood composer and arranger Russell Garcia who wrote this for Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong in 1959.Russell Garcia (1916 - 2015) was an American composer and arranger who wrote a wide variety of music for screen, stage and broadcast. He was a composer/ arranger at NBC Studios, Universal Studios, and MGM Studios where he composed and conducted an original score for such films as The Time Machine, Atlantis, and The Lost Continent. In 1957 he arranged and conducted the adaption of Porgy and Bess for Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald.

Everyone has become accustomed to the “throw-it-away” lifestyle. If an item is broken or does not seem to work anymore, we are quick to throw it out and buy a new one. However, many items can easily be fixed instead of buying new. Why not learn to repair?
Bring your broken and non-functioning things — electronic gadgets, appliances, computers, toys, sewing machines, bicycles, fabric items, etc. — for assessment, disassembly, and possibly repair. FixIt Coaches will be available for consultation on broken items; workspace, specialty tools, and guidance will be provided to help you troubleshoot your item. Offer your expertise as well and join in on the fun!
All ages are welcome and the event is open to the whole family.

Join us at Community Alliance Church for GriefShare, a 13-week support group designed to offer comfort, understanding, and hope to those grieving.&nbsp;

GriefShare is a faith-based program that provides a safe and compassionate environment for individuals to explore their grief, share their experiences, and find support among others facing similar challenges. Each session includes a video seminar featuring expert insights, group discussions for personal sharing, and workbook exercises for reflection and healing.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
This group is open to all community members, regardless of where you are in your grief journey. Whether your loss is recent or you've been carrying it for some time, you'll find a welcoming and supportive space at GriefShare.&nbsp;

Our GriefShare group meets at Community Alliance Church, located on the border of San Pablo and Richmond, CA. We'll gather every Wednesday starting June 5, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, with a one-week break for the 4th of July holiday. You're welcome to join at any point during the program, as each session is self-contained.&nbsp;
